WASHINGTON D.C. FLY-IN

dc1.png
dc2.png

One of the ways we advocate for our local business community is through our annual Washington, DC, fly-in event, which took place last week!

This exclusive initiative allowed members of the Oshkosh Chamber to engage directly with policymakers and influential stakeholders in our nation's capital. During the event, a delegation of business leaders from Oshkosh traveled to Washington for a series of important meetings, briefings, and networking sessions, all aimed at promoting policies that drive economic growth and strengthen our local businesses.

Our team also met with our local congressional delegation to push for public policy changes that create a more favorable business environment for Oshkosh and the broader region. Some of the groups and individuals the team met with included:

  • U.S. Chamber of Commerce
  • Heritage Foundation
  • Legislative Leadership - U.S. Chamber of Commerce
  • Senator Ron Johnson
  • Senator Tammy Baldwin
  • Congressman Scott Fitzgerald - 5th District
  • Congressman Glenn Grothman - 6th District
  • Congressman Thomas Tiffany - 7th District

This fly-in event was a unique opportunity for our members to make their voices heard on a national stage, advocating for a brighter economic future for our community.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATES

  • The Oshkosh Common Council approved the acquisition of Washington School from the Oshkosh Area School District for $75,000 during the April 9th Council meeting. The City of Oshkosh is partnering with Habitat for Humanity to convert the former school into 18 workforce houses. Habitat for Humanity is raising the funds to purchase the land and the City of Oshkosh is utilizing grant funds to take care of the demolition.

  • Chipotle Mexican Grill opened for business on April 26th at 440 S Koeller Street, Oshkosh.

  • The 2023 / 2024 GO Transit Development Plan was adopted by the Oshkosh Common Council during the April 9th Council meeting. The Development Plan is a part of a 5-year preview of what the City of Oshkosh’s transportation service will look like in the years to come. Included in the plan are modifications in routes, opportunities to look at, and recommendations from the planning group. The plan will be implemented in August of 2024.
