RIBBON CUTTING AND A.M. OSHKOSH HELD AT THE DOE HOUSE Oshkosh’s Historic New Boutique Inn
Members of the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce were hosted the morning of April 29 for A.M. Oshkosh and a Ribbon Cutting to announce the opening of Oshkosh’s newest boutique inn, The Doe House. The famous Oshkosh architect William Waters designed the home for William Doe. Its 11 rooms and basement kitchen provided enough space for large wedding, birthday and holiday gatherings in addition to daily living.
The 4,700-square-foot mansion at 456 Mount Vernon Street is now open for people to stay in. Rebecca Brown bought and restored the house, which is available to rent for groups of up to 12 people. Brown is a direct descendant of William Doe, who had the house built in 1869. Doe is her great-great-great-grandfather; Brown is named after his third daughter, Rebecca Doe Jackson.
