| | | The Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the promotion of Connie Carmical to the position of Member Relations Coordinator. In her new role, Connie will play a pivotal part in advancing our mission to foster a thriving local business community. As Member Relations Coordinator, Connie will be at the forefront of enhancing our chamber's engagement with its members.

| Her responsibilities include spearheading membership sales, development, and retention initiatives, with a primary focus on building and nurturing relationships that empower members to achieve their goals.
Connie will take the helm in overseeing advertising sales across various platforms, including our website and the Member to Member network. Her strategic approach will ensure that our members receive optimal visibility, connecting them with valuable opportunities for collaboration and growth.
One of Connie's notable responsibilities is the organization of the OC (Oshkosh Connections) Breakfast, a monthly event that serves as a cornerstone for networking within our business community. This event, scheduled every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:45 am, provides a platform for members to connect, share insights, and forge meaningful partnerships.
In addition to her role in the OC Breakfast, Connie will coordinate the annual Operation Thank You program, recognizing the vital contributions of our members. She will also lead efforts in new member orientation, ensuring that new additions to our community seamlessly integrate into the vibrant chamber network. | | |

| ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATES | | |

- The Oshkosh City Council approved the first phase of the 522 unit housing development along Lake Butte des Morts drive on the northwest side of Oshkosh on December 12th. In April, the City Council passed the proposed development by Red Earth LLC unanimously, however, the approval came along with an amendment bringing the development from 4-story’s down to 3. The original 4-story development plan was reconsidered and approved by the Oshkosh City Council. Construction on the development is planned for spring of 2024.
- The redevelopment plans of the former Schultz Pharmacy at 220 N Main Street were approved by the Oshkosh City Planning Commission on December 5th. The plans include replacing windows, an improved exterior façade, and much more. Once completed, there will be 4 new one-bedroom apartments on the 2nd floor with commercial space on the ground level.
- Panda Express at 570 S Koeller, Crumbl Cookies at 2241 Westowne, and Good Yolk Café at 1009 W 9th have all opened for business in the month of December.
OSHKOSH NOVEMBER 2023 UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FALLS SIGNIFICANTLY
The unemployment rates for Oshkosh and Winnebago County decreased for the third straight month in November along with other areas in our region as reported by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD).
CITY OF OSHKOSH EMPLOYMENT DATA The data indicated that the unemployment rate for November 2023 was 2.5%, an increase from November of 2022 but a several points lower than 3.0% in October of 2023. There were 34,817 Oshkosh City residents working this year in November vs. 33,897 last year, for a total gain of 920 workers year over year. The total labor force numbers in November were 35,702 in 2023 versus 34,719 in November 2022.
WINNEBAGO COUNTY EMPLOYMENT DATA The Winnebago County unemployment rate for November 2023 was 2.4%, slightly higher than the rate from November 2022, 2.2%, but lower than the October 2023 number of 2.8%. There were 93,069 Winnebago County residents working this year vs. 90,609 last year, for a net gain of 2,460 workers. Winnebago County’s labor force also increased in November from 92,642 in November 2022 to 95,338 in November 2023.
WISCONSIN and US EMPLOYMENT DATA The Wisconsin November 2023 unemployment rate was 2.7%, down from 3.0% in October of 2023 but higher than last year’s November number of 2.5%. In November, there were 3,065,820 statewide residents working this year vs. 2,985,412 last year, for a gain of 80,408 workers. Wisconsin’s unemployment rate is below the national average of 3.3% for the third straight month.
