| WMC, Wisconsin’s Chamber, is excited to share its vision with you for Wisconsin’s economic future. Through its foundation and the work of its Future Wisconsin Project, the “Wisconsin 2035” report is as an economic blueprint for the state to be successful over the next 15 years and beyond. In 2021, WMC met with and interviewed more than 80 leaders from across the state representing manufacturing, construction, agriculture, retail, hospitality, healthcare, energy, finance, education, government and others. The conversations reinforced the state’s biggest problem is, and will continue to be, workforce. While not surprising, the level of concern was higher than ever before. Wisconsin’s business leaders proposed a number of ways to attract and retain workers, along with forward-looking ideas to make Wisconsin more competitive and more attractive. Wade Goodsell, WMC COO and executive director of the WMC Foundation, will share those strategies with you and answer any questions. Open registration until Feb 24, 2022 Member Price: $0.00 | | | | |

EMPLOYMENT SUMMARY FOR FEBRUARY 2022 | | |
Oshkosh and Winnebago County unemployment rates continued to remain at some of its lowest levels ever in December 2021 since topping out at over 14% at the height of the pandemic back in April of 2020. The unemployment rates for Oshkosh and Winnebago County remained among some of the lowest in the state and region as reported by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD).
CITY OF OSHKOSH EMPLOYMENT DATA The data indicated that the unemployment rate for December 2021 was 1.5%, down from 3.4% just one year ago in December of 2020. There were 34,728 Oshkosh City residents working this year in December vs. 33,173 last year, for a gain of 1,555 workers. To illustrate the City of Oshkosh’s declining unemployment rate, the DWD statistics indicate that Oshkosh’s total labor force increased by 892 people from December 2020 to December 2021, however, the number of residents working grew by 1,555 resulting in the continued decline in the unemployment rate. Oshkosh also had some of the largest employment gains among the largest cities in the New North region during December 2021.
WINNEBAGO COUNTY EMPLOYMENT DATA The Winnebago County unemployment rate for December 2021 was 1.6%, down from 3.3% in December of 2020. There are 92,274 Winnebago County residents working this year vs. 88,142 last year. This indicates a significant year over year gain of 4,132 more people working vs. a labor force increase of 2,618 people during the same timeframe. WISCONSIN and US EMPLOYMENT DATA The Wisconsin December 2021 unemployment rate was 2%, down from 4% in December of 2020. In December, there were 3,032,675 statewide residents working this year vs. 2,915,366 last year, for a gain of 117,309 workers.
