| ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATES | | |
| |
- Terrance Wall and Mill on Main are set to break ground and begin their project of 295 apartments on S. Main Street at the end of July. The first phase of the project will consist of the North building as well as the main clubhouse.
- Thedacare / Froedert is currently working on site plans and working with the DOT on the Jackson St bridge.
- Pioneer Island is currently under development for the Tiki Bar. The goal is to have the construction done by middle of August for this year’s summer / boating season. The bar will be a full-service bar. It will also have multiple sand volleyball courts and other outdoor activities.
- Miles Kimball building is set to be completed by October 1.
- Maxon Corners is completed and is 100% rented out. Merge is in talks with the city about the third and final phase of their project, set either to be on the strip closest to Jackson or the parcel farther northwest by the water tower. No decision has been made yet.
- Oshkosh Ave has broken development with Mr. Brews Taphouse.
OSHKOSH JUNE 2023 UNEMPLOYMENT RATE RISES
The unemployment rates for Oshkosh and Winnebago County increased in June along with other areas in our region as reported by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD).
CITY OF OSHKOSH EMPLOYMENT DATA The data indicated that the unemployment rate for June 2023 was 3.5%, just lower than the rate from June of 2022 but significantly higher from 2.6% in May of 2023. There were 34,361 Oshkosh City residents working this year in June vs. 33,629 last year, for a total gain of 732 workers year over year. The total labor force numbers in June were 35,618 in 2023 versus 34,901 in June 2022.
WINNEBAGO COUNTY EMPLOYMENT DATA The Winnebago County unemployment rate for June 2023 was 3.3%, remaining consistent with the rate from June 2023 but significantly higher from 2.4% in May of 2023. There were 91,180 Winnebago County residents working this year vs. 89,892 last year, for a net gain of 1,288 workers. Winnebago County’s labor force also increased slightly in June from 92,955 in June 2022 to 94,950 in June 2023.
WISCONSIN and US EMPLOYMENT DATA The Wisconsin June 2023 unemployment rate was 3.4%, up from 2.7% in May of 2023 and slightly lower from last year’s June number of 3.5%. In June there were 3,073,424 statewide residents working this year vs. 3,016,823 last year, for a gain of 56,601 workers. For the first time in 12 months, the 3.4% statewide unemployment rate is just above the national average of 3.3%.
