President & CEO, John Casper, to retire by the end of 2022 after 35 years with the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce
John Casper, President and CEO of the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce, announced he will retire by the end of 2022. The Board of Directors was informed of this at its March 25th Board meeting. Casper began his career at the Oshkosh Chamber in 1987 as the Director of Commercial Development and later took-on the role of President & CEO in December 1990. He is currently the longest tenured Chamber chief executive in Wisconsin. Upon his retirement, he will have served the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce for 35 years. During this time, the membership grew by over fifty percent reaching an all-time high of 1,157members. The Oshkosh Chamber earned its first accreditation from the US Chamber of Commerce in 1993 and has held that designation throughout that period, achieving the highest designation of 5-Stars for the past 18 years. In these years, the community realized unprecedented business and economic growth.
|
“John’s leadership, advocacy and tireless commitment serving the Oshkosh community and businesses will truly be missed. He leaves our Oshkosh Chamber in excellent organizational and financial condition, positioning the organization and his successor with opportunity to further invest in the strategic priorities”, stated Oshkosh Chamber Board Chair Joan Woldt. new President & CEO.
"There are so many business leaders in our community who have shared how the Chamber was a catalyst that helped them connect to important resources. I have also heard stories from other leaders who said their exposure to the Oshkosh Chamber helped them to develop and learn the importance of volunteerism. We hope that John knows how grateful we are for his years of service and resilience. We are proud of him and the contributions he has made to our community"
A Transition Committee has been established consisting of members of the Oshkosh Chamber Board of Directors to develop a process and succession plan that will lead to the selection of the new President & CEO.
“Over the past 34 years, I have had the distinct privilege to have worked for an outstanding organization and with some of the finest people I know. I have been able to lead one of the most talented staffs assembled in the State. I appreciate the confidence and the support of the Chamber’s Board of Directors and the business community during my time with the organization. I am very proud of the many accomplishments of the organization and the positive direction that our community has taken,” stated Casper.

| Session Topic: Confrontation What comes to mind when you are facing a confrontation? Are you girding for combat? Unfortunately, dysfunctional confrontation can devolve into a battle that erodes trust and fractures relationships. It does not have to be that way. Teams can learn to practice healthy confrontation, even under pressure. This briefing will go through steps that are key to constructive confrontation. Participants will learn strategies for establishing boundaries, diminishing tension and developing a culture that welcomes positive exchanges. Learning how to confront can reduce angst and promote positive engagement in your organization. Participants are encouraged to bring their questions and challenges. The briefings are structured to be stand-alone but do complement one another. Invite a dialog partner and hold each other accountable for applying what you learn. Leading from the Top is presented by the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Differentiating Strategies. The briefings provide professional development opportunities for leaders in small and medium businesses. | | | | |
