The Oshkosh Chamber will hold its annual Holiday Parade Thursday, November 11, 2010, in downtown Oshkosh. The theme is "Santa's Workshop."
For the first time in decades, the parade was held at night in 2010. Having a night parade and unseasonably warm temperatures drew record crowds to downtown Oshkosh.
The Oshkosh Chamber awarded five parade entries for their creativity:
- The Oshkosh Dragon Boat Club received the Grand Marshall’s Award, judged by Tom Stephany, retired Oshkosh Parks Department director.
- The Junior Rotaries of Perry Tipler and Carl Traeger middle schools received the Children’s Award. Karlene Grabner of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation was the judge. The winning organization also receives a $200 donation from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation.
- ThedaCare Physicians won the Chancellor’s Award. UW-Oshkosh Vice Chancellor Petra Roter was the judge.
- C.R. Meyer & Sons received the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce Award. Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, Jim Macy, judged the entry.
- The Oshkosh Fast Club was honored with the Mayor’s Award from Mayor Paul Esslinger.
